Patty is both ANCC and AANP board certified family nurse practitioner. Her passion for nursing began after 15 years of caring for her son and experiencing firsthand the excellent care he received by his care team. They saw him as more than a patient, but as a boy with passion for life. After his passing, and motivated by her experience she returned to school to pursue a nursing degree.
She earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Boise State University prior to graduating from the University of St. Augustine with a Master’s in Health Sciences. Her nursing experience has included working in a variety of emergency departments throughout Eastern Washington and most recently in Primary Care in Northern Idaho. Her approach to primary care focuses on the whole person and partnering with patients to assist them meeting their individual health goals.
She met her husband while working as an EMT and they have been married for over 30 years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family, grandchildren, and their crazy goldendoodles.

Jessy is an American Board of Family Medicine certified Medical Doctor. She completed her residency at Truman Medical Center-East and is a graduate of University of Washington Seattle. She brings years of compassion and service to our community. In her downtown you can find her practicing the Hambopolska a Swedish dance or out hiking any of our beautiful local trails. She is also an avid biker and often bikes to work, so keep an eye out for her!

# About Me
I’m Sharon Smith—born and raised beneath the wide Texas sky, where southern hospitality and a strong sense of community were woven into every Sunday supper and porch-sitting evening. In 2014, my love for the Pacific Northwest’s pine-scented air and close-knit neighborhoods led me to Spokane, Washington, where I’ve put down roots ever since.
# My Professional Journey
I’ve been a proud nurse for 18 years, and throughout that time, I’ve walked alongside patients facing complex mental health challenges. Growing up in a quietly conservative Southern environment, I witnessed firsthand how stigma and misunderstanding can compound someone’s struggle. It stirred in me a determination to expand my knowledge, sharpen my skills, and become a guide for others on their behavioral health journeys.
# Education & Certifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (Psychiatric-Mental Health), Gonzaga University
- Board-Certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
- 18 years of diverse nursing experience, including inpatient psychiatric units, community mental health clinics, and telehealth services
# My Approach to Care
My southern roots taught me the value of genuine compassion, simple kindness, and listening with my whole heart. In my practice, I strive to:
- Create a warm, nonjudgmental space where patients feel safe to share their stories
- Blend evidence-based psychiatric strategies with empathetic, patient-centered communication
- Encourage families to engage in the healing process, offering education and support every step of the way
# Why Behavioral Health?
Early in my career, I cared for individuals whose voices were often hushed by shame or fear. I realized that healing goes beyond treating symptoms—it’s about restoring dignity, fostering resilience, and helping each person discover their strengths. My goal is to walk beside you, offering tools and encouragement so you can thrive mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
# Outside of Work
When I’m not caring for patients, you’ll find me exploring Spokane’s trails with my beloved dog, planning a modest herb garden for my husband to plant and tend, or gathering friends for a laid-back backyard cookout, Texas chili or BBQ a must. I believe that a balanced life—one that nurtures mind, body, and community—provides a powerful foundation for the work I do.
Thank you for considering me as your partner in mental wellness. I look forward to journeying with you toward hope, healing, and a brighter tomorrow.
